Chinese name: 黑面将军 (pronounced as hei mian jiang jun )

The Black Face General is from the Acanthacea family and it is easily confused with another species which is the Strobilanthes cusia or Assam Indigo. Both looks very similar but the major difference is the colour of its flowers. The Assam Indigo produces purple flowers while the Black Face General produces yellow flowers. However, it rarely produces any flower all year long.

The plant can be easily propogated via stem cuttings.
